Setting the time for a cluster

You can use the Edit DateTime dialog box to manually set or modify the time zone for your cluster. You can also add time servers to the cluster.

About this task

On a cluster running Data ONTAP 8.2 and later releases, Network Time Protocol (NTP) is always enabled on the cluster. To disable NTP (not recommended), you must contact technical support. You can add the IP addresses of the NTP server at your site. This server is used to synchronize the time across the cluster.

Steps

  1. From the home page, double-click the appropriate storage system.
  2. Expand the Cluster hierarchy in the left navigation pane.
  3. In the navigation pane, click Configuration > System Tools > DateTime .
  4. Click Edit.
  5. Select the time zone.
  6. If your cluster is running Data ONTAP 8.1.x, select Enable NTP service to use the NTP service.
  7. Specify the IP address of the time servers and click Add.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Verify the changes you made to the date and time settings in the DateTime window.
