Managing SnapMirror policies

This API is used to manage SnapMirror policies of type "async" and "sync". When applied to a SnapMirror relationship, the SnapMirror policy controls the behavior of the relationship and specifies the configuration attributes for that relationship.
The policy type "async" can be associated with a SnapMirror relationship that has either the FlexVol volume or FlexGroup volume or SVM as the endpoint.
The policy type "sync" can be associated with a SnapMirror relationship that has FlexVol volume or a Consistency Group as the endpoint. The policy type "sync" can have a "sync_type" of either "sync", "strict_sync" or "automated_failover". If the "sync_type" is "sync" then a write success is returned to the client after writing the data to the primary endpoint and before writing the data to the secondary endpoint. If the "sync_type" is "strict_sync" then a write success is returned to the client after writing the data to the both primary and secondary endpoints.

Classes

class SnapmirrorPolicy (*args, **kwargs)

SnapMirror policy information. SnapMirror policy can either be of type "async", "sync" or "continuous".
The policy type "async" can be associated with a SnapMirror relationship that has either the FlexVol volume or FlexGroup volume or SVM as the endpoint.
The policy type "sync" along with "sync_type" as "sync" or "strict_sync" can be associated with a SnapMirror relationship that has FlexVol volume as the endpoint. The policy type "sync" can have a "sync_type" of either "sync", "strict_sync" or "automated_failover". If the "sync_type" is "sync" then a write success is returned to the client after writing the data to the source endpoint and before writing the data to the destination endpoint. If the "sync_type" is "strict_sync" then a write success is returned to the client after writing the data to the both source and destination endpoints.
If the "sync_type" is "automated_failover" then the policy can be associated with a SnapMirror relationship that has Consistency Group as the endpoint. Use the "sync" policy with "sync_type" as "automated_failover" to establish SnapMirror relationships for business continuity usecases. SnapMirror relationships with policy type as "sync" and "sync_type" as "automated_failover" can be monitored by the Mediator, if configured. In case the source Consistency Group endpoint is not reachable, the Mediator may trigger a failover to the destination Consistency Group endpoint. A policy of type "continuous" can be associated with SnapMirror relationships that have either ONTAP S3 buckets or NON-ONTAP object stores as endpoints. This type of policy is used for FabricLink owned targets.

Initialize the instance of the resource.

Any keyword arguments are set on the instance as properties. For example, if the class was named 'MyResource', then this statement would be true:

Args

*args
Each positional argument represents a parent key as used in the URL of the object. That is, each value will be used to fill in a segment of the URL which refers to some parent object. The order of these arguments must match the order they are specified in the URL, from left to right.
**kwargs
each entry will have its key set as an attribute name on the instance and its value will be the value of that attribute.

Fetch a count of all objects of this type from the host.

This calls GET on the object to determine the number of records. It is more efficient than calling get_collection() because it will not construct any objects. Query parameters can be passed in as kwargs to determine a count of objects that match some filtered criteria.

*args
Each entry represents a parent key which is used to build the path to the child object. If the URL definition were /api/foos/{foo.name}/bars, then to get the count of bars for a particular foo, the foo.name value should be passed.
connection
The HostConnection object to use for this API call. If unset, tries to use the connection which is set globally for the library or from the current context.
**kwargs
Any key/value pairs passed will be sent as query parameters to the host. These query parameters can affect the count. A return_records query param will be ignored.

Returns

On success, returns an integer count of the objects of this type. On failure, returns -1.

Raises

NetAppRestError: If the API call returned a status code >= 400, or if there is no connection available to use either passed in or on the library.

This is a lazy fetch, making API calls only as necessary when the result of this call is iterated over. For instance, if max_records is set to 5, then iterating over the collection causes an API call to be sent to the server once for every 5 records. Updates the SnapMirror policy.

Important notes

  • The properties "transfer_schedule" and "throttle" can be modified only if all the SnapMirror relationships associated with the specified SnapMirror policy have the same values.
  • The properties "retention.label" and "retention.count" are mandatory if "retention" is provided in the input. The provided "retention.label" is the final list and it replaces the existing values.
  • The value of the "identity_preservation" property cannot be changed if the SnapMirror relationships associated with the policy have different identity_preservation configurations.
  • If the SnapMirror policy "identity_preservation" value matches the "identity_preservation" value of the associated SnapMirror relationships, then the "identity_preservation" value can be changed from a higher "identity_preservation" threshold value to a lower "identity_preservation" threshold value but not vice-versa. For example, the threshold value of the "identity_preservation" property can be changed from "full" to "exclude_network_config" to "exclude_network_and_protocol_config", but could not be increased from "exclude_network_and_protocol_config" to "exclude_network_config" to "full".
  • No "retention" properties can be modified if the "copy_all_source_snapshots" property is present in the policy.
  • The "copy_all_source_snapshots" property of a policy cannot be modified.

It takes the following values: - full - indicates that the source SVM configuration is replicated to the destination SVM endpoint. - exclude_network_config - indicates that the source SVM configuration other than network configuration is replicated to the destination SVM endpoint. - exclude_network_and_protocol_config - indicates that the source SVM configuration is not replicated to the destination SVM endpoint.

Important note

  • The property "retention.count" specifies the maximum number of Snapshot copies that are retained on the SnapMirror destination volume.
  • When the property "retention.label" is specified, the Snapshot copies that have a SnapMirror label matching this property is transferred to the SnapMirror destination.
  • When the property "retention.creation_schedule" is specified, Snapshot copies are directly created on the SnapMirror destination. The Snapshot copies created have the same content as the latest Snapshot copy already present on the SnapMirror destination.

Required properties

  • name - Name of the new SnapMirror policy.
  • svm.name or svm.uuid - Name or UUID of the SVM that owns the SnapMirror policy.

Args

hydrate
If set to True, after the response is received from the call, a a GET call will be made to refresh all fields of the object.
poll
If set to True, the call will not return until the asynchronous job on the host has completed. Has no effect if the host did not return a job response.
poll_interval
If the operation returns a job, this specifies how often to query the job for updates.
poll_timeout
If the operation returns a job, this specifies how long to continue monitoring the job's status for completion.
**kwargs
Any key/value pairs passed will normally be sent as query parameters to the host. If any of these pairs are parameters that are sent as formdata then only parameters of that type will be accepted and all others will be discarded.

Specifies whether all source Snapshot copies should be copied to the destination on a transfer rather than specifying specific retentions. This is applicable only to async policies.
