Enabling or disabling the storage system's SMB 2.0 protocol client capability

You can enable or disable the storage system's SMB 2.0 protocol client capability by setting the cifs.smb2.client.enable option to on or off, respectively. By default, this option is set to off.

About this task

If the cifs.smb2.client.enable option is set to on, but a Windows server does not support the SMB 2.0 protocol, the storage system uses the original SMB protocol to communicate with the Windows server.

If you set the cifs.smb2.client.enable option to off, the storage system uses the original SMB protocol in new communication sessions with Windows servers; however, the storage system continues to use the SMB 2.0 protocol in existing sessions.
