Editing mirror relationships

You can edit a mirror relationship by either selecting an existing policy or schedule in the cluster, or by creating a new policy or schedule. However, you cannot edit the parameters of an existing policy or schedule.

About this task

You cannot edit a mirror relationship created between a volume in Data ONTAP 8.2.1 and a volume in Data ONTAP 8.3 or later.


  1. Expand the Storage Virtual Machines hierarchy in the left navigation pane.
  2. In the navigation pane, select the destination Storage Virtual Machine (SVM), and then click Protection.
  3. Select the mirror relationship for which you want to modify the policy or schedule, and then click Edit.
  4. In the Edit Mirror Relationship dialog box, select an existing policy or create a new policy:
    If you want to... Do the following...
    Select an existing policy Select a mirror policy from the list.
    Create a new policy
    1. Click Create Policy.
    2. Specify a name for the policy.
    3. Set the priority for scheduled transfers.

      Low indicates that the transfer has the least priority and is usually scheduled after normal priority transfers. By default, the priority is set to Normal.

    4. Select the Transfer All Source Snapshot Copies check box to include the "all_source_snapshots" rule to the mirror policy that will enable you to back up all the Snapshot copies from the source volume.
    5. Select the Enable Network Compression check box to compress the data that is being transferred.
    6. Click Create.
  5. Specify a schedule for the relationship:
    If... Do the following...
    You want to assign an existing schedule From the list of schedules, select an existing schedule.
    You want to create a new schedule
    1. Click Create Schedule.
    2. Specify a name for the schedule.
    3. Select either Basic or Advanced.
      • Basic: You can select this option to specify only the day of the week, time, and the transfer interval.
      • Advanced: You can select this option to specify a cron style schedule.
    4. Click Create.
    You do not want to assign a schedule Select None.
  6. Click OK to save the changes.
