Dashboard window

The dashboard contains multiple panels that provide cumulative at-a-glance information about your system and its performance. You can use the Dashboard window to view information about important alerts, aggregates and volumes capacity, performance, cluster details, disk details, network details, and other activities.

Cluster Details tab

The tab displays details about the cluster through various panels such as alerts, capacity, Storage Virtual Machine (SVM) performance, cluster, disk details, network details, and selected activities.

Alerts
Displays emergency EMS events and health monitor alerts that occurred in the past 24 hours at the cluster level. The panel displays up to three events and alerts. You can click the view page link to view all the emergency EMS events and health monitor alerts.

The refresh interval for this panel is 1 minute.

Capacity
Displays the aggregates and volumes that are nearing their capacity utilization.

In the Aggregates tab, the graph displays the top five online aggregates that are nearing their capacity, in the descending order of used space. You can click the view all link to navigate to the Aggregates inventory page.

The Volumes tab displays the top three SVMs, including destination SVMs for disaster recovery and SVMs in a locked state, containing the volumes with the highest capacity utilized when you enter any valid value for the "Volumes exceeding used capacity of" field. You can click the view all link to view the Volumes dialog box, and then navigate to the Volumes page.

The refresh interval for this panel is 15 minutes.

SVM Performance

Enables you to select the SVM and protocol for which you want to view the key performance parameters at the SVM level. The performance metrics consists of IOPS and latency for CIFS, NFSv3, iSCSI, and FC protocols that are allowed on a particular SVM.

You can select only CIFS and NFS protocols for an SVM with Infinite Volume because iSCSI and FC are not supported.

If the information about SVM performance cannot be retrieved from Data ONTAP, you cannot view the respective graph. In such cases, System Manager does not display any error message. Total operations details for iSCSI are not displayed.

The refresh interval for this panel is 15 seconds, and it takes at least 15 seconds to load the first data point.

Cluster

Displays the name of the cluster, its version, and the number of nodes in the cluster. The panel also displays the entitlement risk to the cluster due to license issues and HA status for the nodes. You can click the specific links to navigate to the corresponding pages.

The refresh interval for this panel is 15 minutes.

Disk Details
Displays the number of disks available in the cluster. The panel enables you to choose and view data related to disk type and their usage, including HDDs, SSDs, and array LUNs, in graphical format.

You can click the disk type in the graph for the assigned HDDs and SSDs section to open the disk inventory page. You can click the disk type in the graph in the array LUNs section to open the Array LUNs inventory page.

Links are displayed only for available disk types. If there are failed, unassigned, unsupported or unknown disks, an error icon is displayed. However, if there are only unassigned disks, then a warning icon is displayed.

The refresh interval for this panel is 15 minutes.

Network Details
Provides an overview of the cluster network objects and their status along with some alerts. You can view the number of IPspaces, broadcast domains, and subnets in the cluster and click them to navigate to the respective tab in the Network window. The panel also displays alerts for the following:
  • Number of subnets with no free IP addresses
  • Number of ports that are down
  • Number of LIFs that are not on the home port

The refresh interval for this panel is 5 minutes.

Selected Activities
Displays the number of volume move operations that were completed and those that failed in the past 24 hours. Volume move operations that are in progress or that require an administrator's intervention are also displayed. The count of volumes that have already been moved is not considered again for the total count. You can click the count link to view the Volume Move in Progress dialog box.

The refresh interval for this panel is 15 minutes.

Cluster Performance tab

The tab displays performance metrics of the cluster, including latency, IOPS, and data rate (MBps).

This tab is only available for a cluster on an All Flash FAS platform that contains only one Storage Virtual Machine (SVM) created with the name AFF_SAN_DEFAULT_SVM.

If the information about cluster performance cannot be retrieved from Data ONTAP, you cannot view the respective graph. In such cases, System Manager does not display any error message.

The refresh interval for this tab is 15 seconds, and it takes at least 15 seconds to load the first data point.
