Storage Virtual Machine (SVM) administrators can administer SVMs and its resources, such as volumes, protocols, and services, depending on the capabilities assigned by the cluster administrator. SVM administrators cannot create, modify, or delete SVMs.
Configure data access protocols, such as NFS, CIFS, iSCSI, and Fibre Channel (FC) protocol (Fibre Channel over Ethernet included)
Configure services, such as LDAP, NIS, and DNS
Manage volumes, quotas, qtrees, and files
Manage LUNs in a SAN environment
Manage Snapshot copies of the volumes
Monitor jobs, network connection, network interface, and SVM health
For more information about SVM administrator capabilities, see the Clustered Data ONTAP System Administration Guide for SVM Administrators.
