After creating SnapLock volumes, you can transition only the regular files in the volume to the WORM state. You can set the retention date on the file, determine whether a file is in the WORM state, or extend the retention date of a WORM file.
Note: In Data ONTAP 8.1, you cannot commit a non-regular
file (such as LUNs and Symbolic links) to WORM state. However,
the
non-regular
files that
were committed to WORM state in earlier releases continue to be in WORM
state even after upgrading to Data ONTAP 8.1.
