If your CIFS domain contains Windows Server 2008 R2 domain controllers, you need to take certain steps to ensure successful authentication.
Data ONTAP requires either a writable domain controller or a read-only domain controller that is configured to replicate passwords for the storage system.
If you want to... | Then... |
---|---|
Ensure that the storage system uses a writable domain controller | Use the cifs prefdc add command to add the writable domain controller to the list of preferred domain controllers on the storage system. |
Ensure successful authentication with read-only domain controllers | Configure the writable domain controller to allow the read-only domain controller to replicate passwords for the storage system.
